FAQ

Q. why is water leaking on the ground in front of my furnace/Coil?

A. A common cause for this is the condensate drain has been clogged, this can be resolved by taking a wet/dry vacuum and clearing the end of the drain line to allow for proper water drainage.

Q. My interior coil above the furnace is freezing up, why is this occurring?

A. The interior coil can develop Ice or “freeze up” due to a few different potential causes, first could be a dirt filter. Check your filter and change if needed. Another cause for this could be a blower motor failure, check to see if you are getting air flow at your registers. The third leading cause for this issue is your unit is low on refrigeration. If you are experiencing this issue and changing your filter has not resolved the issue contact FRS Mechanical to schedule an appointment.

Q. I turned my furnace on but after coming on it shuts back down why is it doing this?

A. Although this could be caused by several things the most common would be that the flame sensor needs cleaned. This should be done at least once per season.

Q. How often should I change my thermostat battery’s?

A. Although not all thermostats use battery power if your home is equipped with one that does, you should change your battery’s at least once per year.

Q. How often should I change my furnace Filter?

A. Filter frequency will depend on filter size and quality, here at FRS Mechanical we recommend using pleated filters for the best results. For one inch pleated filters they should be checked every 30 days and replaced every 90 days. For four inch pleated filters you should check every 90 days and replaced once to twice a year as needed.
